1. My Background
My father is a record assistant. My mother is a homemaker and my sister just completed her MBA. I completed my schooling at Oxford Talent school and secured 88%. I then completed junior college at Narayana junior college. From there I went on to pursue my engineering from Saveetha School of Engineering, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. I majored in electronics and communication and aced the exams with 84%. I am also a merit scholarship holder wherein I got a scholarship of 2 lakh rupees. During my college days, I topped the college during my second year of engineering.
I am a very jolly person by nature and like to enjoy every minute. My belief is to not depend on others and complete my work on time. I have a very simple work ethic. My hobbies include speaking to friends and travelling.
When I was studying during my college days, I was figuring out which field I should take up. I was practicing different programming languages to understand where I belong. Lastly, I studied Python. When I was trying with Python, the results were good and I used to come in the top 10. I realized that Python came easy to me and it was very interesting.
My interest lies in Machine Learning and AI but I got placed in Cognizant during off-campus placements. I was not pleased. At cognizant, though it is a big company, you do not get to choose your domain. They choose a domain for you. However, my mindset is that whatever comes my way, I give my 100% and complete the job.
2. Experience at Board Infinity
I was inclined toward data science so I did some research and then joined Board Infinity. When the pandemic hit, it was bad but I took it positively as I learned new things. I used to take a lot of notes. My saving grace is taking notes and that benefited me greatly.
I opted for the Board Infinity online course in data science. The course was really good and equipped me for a career in data science. The response of each program manager towards grievances is very quick, which I loved. The teaching of each coach was excellent too. The coaches gave us assignments and exams which kept me busy. At any point in time, if we had queries, questions, or doubts, the coaches used to come to our rescue and help us out. I gained a lot of theoretical and practical knowledge and as a result, was placed in my second round of placements itself.
3. My Placement Process
When the time came for placements, I sent my application to 3 companies. All 3 interviews were happening simultaneously. I sat for all of them. In the first interview, they asked me about logical reasoning and guesstimates but my point of interview differed due to which I was not selected. With Finance peer, there were 4 rounds in 4 weeks, I aced every round and got an offer with a 50% hike in salary.
I am now working as a program analyst and my role is that of an oracle developer. Our day-to-day job work includes getting raw data transferred to oracle base tables, performing validations, accepting errors, and completing the process.
I truly believe that in whatever you do, you must give it your all to succeed.
